Ruby on Rails, Where have you been all my life?

So this weekend I started to learn Ruby on Rails, and let’s just say, it’s amazing. I built a new blog from scratch in minutes, and built a login in about the same amount of time. I personally am a PHP coder and lover, but Ruby might just change that. As the web changes, it seems that there are more and more ruby on rails sites being built and more being wanted.

I see it as something that can be useful as a back-end structure to small sites that need to get there product out fast and have it be reliable and quick. Knowing that Twitter was originally built off ruby, but now is moving lots of it’s back-end code to SCALA worries me a bit though. People say that Ruby was one of the main reasons of Twitter’s downtime during it’s early years. I would love to build a more complex site with it, but I don’t know if I want to hassle with all the downtime that Twitter seem to have had due to ruby it’s self.

Just to let you all know, My site will be moving to a ruby based platform soon! I want to not only push myself at this new programming language(ruby), but I also want to have a site and platform built by me running my site. I’ll have some preview of the changes soon!
